Reiki Courses
We hold Live Courses every month, as well as teaching Reiki on a Home Study basis.
Our certificated courses include all the levels necessary to take you from a complete Reiki novice, to becoming a professional Reiki Practitioner, and then on to becoming a Reiki Master Teacher.
All aspects of Reiki are covered, from a Western viewpoint and from the original Eastern viewpoint. These include personal meditations, the proper use of symbols & kotodama, how to treat yourself, how to treat others, and ultimately how to teach others.
For a complete list of all the stages of Reiki, including details about the Live and Home study courses, plus costs, please click here to download our brochure.
What makes us different
There are many people and organisations teaching Reiki in
this country. Some teach the modern 'Western' Reiki and
some teach what they call 'Traditional' Reiki. To get a
detailed view on how this all came about please go to the
Reiki History page.
At Bath Reiki we teach the 'Original' Japanese form of Reiki
(or Usui Do), which is very different from the evolved
form being taught and practised here in the West. The Original
Usui Reiki is simple, elegant, powerful and uncluttered.
Reiki was originally all about taking yourself on a self-healing
and spiritual journey. It has ended up being taught as a
Complementary Therapy. We teach you both, giving you a strong
foundation for your Reiki journey.
Philosophy
We approach our courses from the idea that the practice
of Reiki is to help one heal oneself and find ones spiritual
path towards enlightenment - the original intention of Reiki.
Even though treating others was originally a side issue
we do include this important element of Reiki in our courses
- looked at from both a Western & Eastern point of view.
Every aspect of both traditions of Reiki are covered so
that you have a strong foundation from which you can then
start your own Reiki journey.
Course
Material
The course material has been created over many years and comes directly from Chris Marsh (please see our Reiki
History page to understand the relevance of this). They provide much more than you will receive
from any other course.
All courses consist of a Home Study Pack - extensive and
comprehensive manuals, audio CDs and in the case of the
Master/Teacher Degree a DVD.
In the case of the Home Study courses you also receive a
Course Work Guide which guides you through the pack and
enables you to give us feedback on your experiences.
Ongoing
Support & Advice
Once you have completed your course you are not then just
left alone. Jay is on hand to help and support you at all
times in your practice of Reiki. To do this he offers the
following free benefits:
· Free updates to your manuals. The manuals are updated
at regular intervals and you can download these for free
· Free self-help guides
· Free quarterly newsletters
· Treatment swaps list with other students throughout the
UK
· Free membership of a dedication Reiki internet discussion
group. You can contact about 1,000 other Reiki people. You
will find people always willing to respond to your queries
and requests for distant healings
· Usui used to give his students Reiju Empowerments on a
weekly basis and so to mirror this training Jay sends out
a distant Reiju empowerment each week on a Monday. You can
'tune yourself in' to this empowerment and it gives you
a real boost and reminds you of your connection to Reiki
· Free monthly Reiki Share meetings. These are free, informal
evenings where Jay gets together with his students to discuss
how things have been going, answer any questions, carry
out empowerments and carry out any healing necessary
· Jay feels it is vitally important that his students don't
feel isolated or confused so they can call or email him
at anytime if they have a question about Reiki
· When you have completed Reiki II or above with us you also get listed on our 'List of Recommended Reiki Practitioners'. In this way you benefit from free advertising
When you complete the Shinpiden Course (Reiki Master/Teacher
Degree) you get added benefits:
· Free access to all Reiki Manuals, for you to download
and print off for your students
· Discounted prices for purchasing the CD's (and professionally
bound manuals if you want) for your students
· You will also have the opportunity to join Jay, for
free, on any of his Shoden and Okuden courses as a 'helper',
to get first hand experience of how to run your own course
Venue
All Live Courses are carried out in a purpose built teaching space in Neston, near Bath. The Space is used only for healing and Reiki and as such has a calm and peaceful atmosphere, it is also surrounded by beautiful countryside,
which adds to the experience.

The
Three Degrees, plus Deepening
Learning Reiki is done in three or four stages:
Shoden (Reiki I). This is for your
own benefit and can be practised on family and close friends.
Okuden (Reiki II). This is taken
at least 2 months after Shoden. This enables you to deepen
and intensify your experience of Reiki, taking it to a new
level. This is the Practitioner Course where, after
you have completed the course, you can start a Reiki practice
if you so wish.
Reiki Deepening (Reiki Master Practitioner Degree). This is a step
between our Okuden and Shinpiden courses. This helps to
deepen our understanding of how to use Reiki in our daily
lives and in our practice. It is designed for those who are not
ready to move on to the full Master/Teacher level yet but wish to take their learning to the Master Practitioner level.
Shinpiden (Reiki Master/Teacher
Degree). This is taken at least 6 months after Okuden.
This is for those who wish to continue their Reiki development
to its natural conclusion. Reiki Mastership represents the
end of one journey and the commencement of another. This
course gives you everything you need to be able to teach
Reiki.
Coming
from a Different School
If you have previously learnt Reiki with a different teacher,
at any level, we have conversion courses available to bring
you 'up to speed' with our teachings. Please see the Booking
Forms page for details.
We are constantly re-training many people who have previously
learnt what they thought was 'Traditional' Reiki, but that
somehow it didn't quite make sense to them, so please do
not be afraid to call Jay to find
out more.
Booking
a Course
Firstly you need to decide which type of study best suits
you. Please see below some advantages and disadvantages
of both options.
If you wish to come along on a Training Day (choosing the
Live Course route) firstly go to the Course
Dates page to find an available course, then go to the
Booking Forms page and
either print out a booking form or pay online.
If you wish to study at home then simply go to the Booking
Forms page and again either print out a booking form
or pay online.
Study
Choices
Learning Reiki with Bath Reiki can be done as a Live
Course or as a Home Study
Course. For both courses you receive exactly the same
material. Both courses, however, do have their own advantages
and disadvantages as shown below:
Live Course
|
Advantages |
Disadvantages |
1. You get to practice your energy exercises
in the company of others.
2. On the Training Day someone may ask a question
you had not thought of.
3. On the Training Day you get to give your
first Reiki treatment under supervised conditions.
4. On the Training Day you get to recieve what
may be your first Reiki treatment.
5. It is always good to have 'hands on' experience
when doing something new. |
1. You have only one day (or two in the case
of the Master/Teacher Degree) to get to grips with
the practical side of Reiki.
2. You have to wait for an available live course
date.
3. Live Courses are more expensive than Home
Study Courses.
4. There are at least 3 other people on the
Training Day who also have questions - you may not
get to ask yours - although there is unlimited
email support after completing any of the courses.
5. You may have to pay travel and accomodation
expenses. |
Home Study
| Advantages |
Disadvantages |
1. There are no time limits. Instead of having
the time available to you limited by the length of
a day or two day course, you can work at your own
pace.
You will have the opportunity to spend a lot longer
working with the various exercises.
This approach comes a lot closer to the way that Reiki's
founder - Mikao Usui - taught, with students working
with him one-to-one and developing themselves over
an extended period.
2. There's no need to wait for an available
Live Course date - get started straight away.
3. The Home Study Courses are cheaper than
the Live Courses.
4. You can go over things you didn't understand
as many times as you need to.
5. You save on potential travel and accomodation
expenses.
6. You get to ask as many questions as you
like throughout the course, and afterwards - this
is unlimited tutor support |
1. You have to practice your energy exercises
on your own - unless you have another Reiki friend.
2. You don't get to give a full Reiki treatment
under supervised conditions.
3. You don't get to have what may be your first
Reiki treatment.
4. You don't get the 'hands-on' experience
under supervised conditions - although the Home Study
Course Work and Guide talks you through everything
you need to know, as well as benefitting from any
comments you may receive from your feedback. |
